Packe was first sent to Sicily and then to Portugal, participating in the horrendous retreat to Corunna. After a brief diversion to Walcheren, Packe returned to the Peninsula in time to join in with another dreadful retreat, this time from Burgos. He completed his service as Lt.Colonel, serving with Graham in 1814 in Holland. Missing Waterloo his battalion formed part of the Army of Occupation.
